FORT Vilnius team member Aistė Samuilytė-Mamontovė successfully defended the dissertation “Effect of the European Union Directives: Aspects of Ensuring the Principle of Legal Certainty”
In her dissertation “Effect of the European Union Directives: Aspects of Ensuring the Principle of Legal Certainty” Aistė Samuilytė-Mamontovė analyses the compliance of the doctrines of EU directives as formed by the Court of Justice of the European Union with the principle of legal certainty, identifies problems of their application in national court proceedings and provides suggestions regarding alternative regulation of the application of directives in the European Union.
The scientific research evaluates procedural possibilities to ensure the effectiveness of directives in the Lithuanian courts and makes suggestions regarding insurance of the principle of legal certainty in civil and administrative procedure.
The results of the research have a great practical significance. The dissertation could be of use as a practical guide for national courts as well as lawyers who represent persons seeking for the defence of the rights set out in EU directives.
