Maris Liguts joins FORT legal as a partner

Law Firm FORT has expanded its pan-Baltic Banking & Finance team with the addition of attorney-at-law Maris Liguts as a partner in FORT’s Riga office. Maris Liguts joins FORT as from May 2023.

Maris Liguts specializes in Banking & Finance and regularly assists domestic and international financial institutions and corporate clients with banking & finance regulatory issues and various types of financing transactions. Maris has been involved in licensing financial institutions and the acquisition of qualifying holdings in financial institutions. Maris has an exceptional expertise in anti-money laundering compliance and the financial regulatory area.

Maris received his Master of Law (LL.M) degree from Riga Graduate School of Law (2002) and earned a Bachelor of Law degree from University of Law, Faculty of Law (2001). In 2022 Maris successfully passed CAMS exam and obtained CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists) certificate.

Prior to joining FORT, Maris for more than five years has been partner in law office Deloitte Legal and for more than four years has been practicing in pan-Baltic law firm TGS Baltics. During his career path Maris has been board member in the bank in Latvia, as well as has led the Legal and Compliance department of Danske Bank AS branch in Latvia.
