Several Latvian associations representing the sector of renewable energy sources (RES), with a support of ADVERSUS (predecessor of FORT), have submitted a complaint about violations of obligations set by the European Union for the renewable energy industry on 21st November 2012.

Partner Sandis Bertaitis, as the authorized representative of complainants notes that purpose for submission of the complaint is to prevent material violations of the European Union laws in the renewable energy sector of Latvia, as well as ensure following principles of a state ruled by law.

Furthermore Sandis Bertaitis acknowledges that “our previous experience and several surveys show that actions of the government authorities of Latvia in respect of the renewable energy sources sector are unstable, inconsistent, frequently driven by political opinions and interests, and not based on economically correct calculations and objectives crucial for the national economy of Latvia”.

The complaint is signed by associations: Latvian Institute for Sustainable Development, Latvian Biomass Association LATbio, Latvian Renewable Energy Association, Small Hydropower Association, Solar Energy Association and Wind Energy Association.
