On 14 April 2016 the European Parliament officially and finally approved the General Data Protection Regulation (also known as the GDPR). The New Regulation will enter into force within 2 years after its publication in the EU Official Journal, i.e. it will be directly applicable in the Member States starting April-May 2018. The personal data controllers will have 24 months to implement requirements established in the Regulation.
