The European Commission (EC), having evaluated the complaint prepared by FORT on behalf of the Latvian Renewable Energy Federation (LREF), has decided to carry out in-depth verification of the state aid provided by Latvia to state-owned major natural gas combined heat and power plants (CHP). It was pointed out in the complaint submitted that in lobbying interests of the state-owned natural gas processing plants the rules for granting the state aid were continuously ignored resulting in adverse impact on the energy sector in general.
